FAQ
Short answers to the questions that come up most.
Clients and workers usually need clarity on speed, process, coverage and next steps. Start here.
For clients
Booking and service questions.
Chefs, bar staff, front of house teams, baristas and event support for private events, hospitality venues, productions and branded environments across London.
Most enquiries get a response within 24 hours. Urgent briefs can move faster when the date, timing, role mix and location are clear.
Once the brief is agreed, VERGO confirms the booking in writing with roles, timings and next steps. Availability is only locked once confirmed.
Yes. Changes are handled case by case and depend on timing and live availability. Early notice always helps.
Yes. The minimum booking is 4 hours per person per shift.
Invoices are typically issued after the event based on the confirmed roles and hours delivered, unless a different arrangement has been agreed in advance.
A Shortlist brief opens applications to vetted workers for a fixed window. VERGO reviews every applicant and sends a shortlist to the client, who makes the final selection. It suits roles where fit matters more than the fastest fill.
Shortlist uses the same wage-plus-service-fee structure as Standard, with an additional £1/hr merit uplift for each shortlisted worker selected. The total client rate is Wage + £3/hr + VAT, made up of a £2/hr VERGO fee plus that £1/hr uplift. This reflects the curation quality and incentivises the strongest candidates to apply.
VERGO handles issues directly and provides best-effort replacement support where needed. The goal is always to keep the booking stable and the communication clear.
Preferred requests
Preferred requests and long-term hires.
Yes. If you have worked with someone through VERGO and would like to request them again for future temporary shifts or events, you can save them as a preferred professional in your saved favourites and ask for them through us. We prioritise preferred team requests when availability allows, and there is no extra fee for temporary repeat requests.
We are always pleased when great people find strong long-term opportunities. If you would like to hire someone permanently or on a direct long-term basis, please contact VERGO first. We can facilitate the conversation and manage the transition. A one-time placement fee from £400 applies to cover vetting, onboarding and platform support.
Keeping requests with VERGO keeps the process smooth, fair and professional for everyone involved. It allows us to support both clients and workers properly while protecting the quality and reliability VERGO is built on.
For staff
Application and onboarding questions.
Apply through the Join VERGO page, choose the roles you can cover, and upload your CV. If there is a fit, the next step is usually an interview.
Relevant experience helps, but attitude, reliability and presentation matter too. VERGO looks for people who can handle service properly.
Applications are reviewed first. Suitable candidates move into interview, right-to-work checks and onboarding steps before any booking is confirmed.
Most shifts are in London and nearby areas. Exact locations, timings and role notes are confirmed in advance of each booking.
Shortlist roles are bookings where VERGO reviews all applicants before sending a shortlist to the client. You apply in exactly the same way as any Standard role. If selected, you earn a £1/hr merit uplift on top of the standard rate for that shift. Strong Shortlist performance is the main route to Gold status and higher rates on Gold bookings.
